Knowledge vs. LOVE (1 Corinthians 8:1-3)

1 Corinthians 8:1-3

New International Version (NIV)

... We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know. But whoever loves God is known by God.

Love is more important than knowledge. Knowledge can make us look good and feel important, but we can all too easily develop an arrogant, know-it-all attitude. Many people with strong opinions are unwilling to listen to and learn from God and others. We can obtain God's knowledge only by loving Him. And we can know and be known by God only when we model Him by showing love (see 1 John 4:7-8 below).

1 John 4:7-8

New International Version (NIV)

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
