Setbacks and standstills (Ezra 4:23-24)

The Message (MSG)

²³ The letter of King Artaxerxes was read to Rehum and Shimshai the secretary and their associates. They lost no time. They went to the Jews in Jerusalem and made them quit work.

²⁴ That put a stop to the work on The Temple of God in Jerusalem.

Setbacks and standstills are painful and discouraging to God's workers. Leaders should do everything to keep work from grinding to a halt; yet circumstances sometimes really are out of our control. When you have been brought to a standstill, remember to still stand strong in the Lord.
