God's Favor cannot be Purchased (2 Kings 5:15-16)

2 Kings 5:15-16

New International Version (NIV)

15 Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God. He stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.”
16 The prophet answered, “As surely as the Lord lives, whom I serve, I will not accept a thing.” And even though Naaman urged him, he refused.

Elisha refused Naaman's money to show that God's favor cannot be purchased. Our money, like Naaman's, is useless when we face death. No matter how much wealth we accumulate in this life, it will evaporate when we stand before God, our Creator. It will be our faith in Jesus Christ that saves us, not our bank accounts.

Obedience (2 Kings 5:9-15)

2 Kings 5:9-15

New Living Translation (NLT)

So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and waited at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 But Elisha sent a messenger out to him with this message: “Go and wash yourself seven times in the Jordan River. Then your skin will be restored, and you will be healed of your leprosy.”
11 But Naaman became angry and stalked away. “I thought he would certainly come out to meet me!” he said. “I expected him to wave his hand over the leprosy and call on the name of the Lord his God and heal me! 12 Aren’t the rivers of Damascus, the Abana and the Pharpar, better than any of the rivers of Israel? Why shouldn’t I wash in them and be healed?” So Naaman turned and went away in a rage.
13 But his officers tried to reason with him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!’” 14 So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child’s, and he was healed!
15 Then Naaman and his entire party went back to find the man of God. They stood before him, and Naaman said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.”

Naaman, a great hero, was used to getting respect, and he was outraged when Elisha treated him like a ordinary person. A proud man, he expected royal treatment. To wash in a great river would be one thing, but the Jordan was small and dirty. To wash in the Jordan, Naaman thought, was beneath a man of his position. But Naaman has to humble himself and obey Elisha's commands in order to be healed.

Obedience to God begins with humility. We must believe that His way is better than our own. We may not always understand His ways of working, but by humbly obeying, we will receive His blessings. We must remember that 1.) God's ways are best; 2.) God wants our obedience more than anything else; 3.) God can use anything to accomplish His purposes.

Listen (1 Kings 19:11-13)

1 Kings 19:11-13

New Living Translation (NLT)

11 “Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave.
And a voice said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

Elijah knew that the sound of gentle whisper was God's voice. He realized that God doesn't reveal Himself only in powerful miraculous ways. To look for God only in something big (rallies, churches, conferences, highly visible leaders) may be to miss Him because He is often found gently whispering in the quietness of a humbled heart. Are you listening for God? Step back from the noise and activity of your busy life and listen humbly and quietly for His guidance. It may come when you least expect it.

Take a Stand (1 Kings 18:21)

1 Kings 18:21

New Living Translation (NLT)

21 Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent.

Elijah challenged the people to take a stand - to follow whoever was the true God. Why did so many people waver between the two choices? Perhaps some were not sure. Many, however, knew that the Lord was God, but they enjoyed the sinful pleasures and other benefits that came with following Ahab in his idolatrous worship. It is important to take a stand for the Lord. If we just drift along with whatever is pleasant and easy, we will someday discover that we have been worshiping a false god - ourselves.

Healing (Revelation 12:11)

Revelation 12:11

New Living Translation (NLT)

11 And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb
    and by their testimony.

When your healing manifests itself and you recover and have the opportunity to testify to the grace of the Lord - Do it!!! The Lord wants you to give glory to Him for what He has done and it will also serve to help build faith in someone else who has a need.

Healing (Mark 11:22-23)

Mark 11:22-23

New Living Translation (NLT)

22 Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. 23 I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.

What kind of mountains or obstacles do you have in your life right now? Obey Jesus and command that mountain of pain, cancer, disease etc., to go now out of your body in the Name of Jesus. Jesus said you can have what you say. Begin to call your body whole, healed, well - don't stop, don't listen to your body, don't listen to doubt and fear, listen only to Jesus, listen to His Word!

Healing (Matthew 18:18)

Matthew 18:18

New International Version (NIV)

18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

The word "bind" means to forbid, the word "loose" means to let go or to allow to go free. Do not allow sickness, pain or disease run free in your body, bind it or forbid it to stay there any longer because of your rights as a believer.. Put your foot down and command it to leave in the Name of Jesus!!!

In the name of Jesus, we command the cancer to leave my brother's body!

Healing (Jeremiah 17:14)

Jeremiah 17:14

New International Version (NIV)

14 Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed;
save me and I will be saved,
for you are the one I praise.

Once a person finally understands that healing is a part of the finished work of grace along with salvation, paid for at the same time with the same healing Blood, then you can get excited about this verse saying; "You did it Lord for me! Then according to this verse I will agree and say, I will have healing just as I have salvation, it's mine NOW!"

Healing (Psalm 103:2-3)

Psalm 103:2-3

New Living Translation (NLT)

Let all that I am praise the Lord;
may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins
    and heals all my diseases.

Notice it doesn't say some, it says all! It also states that healing is one of the benefits that belongs to the believer along with the benefit of having our sin forgiven.

Thank you Lord that you heal "ALL" our diseases.

Healing (Mark 11:24)

Mark 11:24

New Living Translation (NLT)

24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

We need to pray with the confidence of knowing that God has already answer our prayers.

Healing (Matthew 18:19-20)

Matthew 18:19-20

New International Version (NIV)

19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."

Jesus looked ahead to a new day when He would be present with His followers not in body, but through His Holy Spirit. In the body of believers (the church), the sincere agreement of two people is more powerful than the superficial agreement of thousands, because Christ's Holy Spirit is with them. Two or more believers, filled with the Holy Spirit, will pray according to God's will, not their own, thus their requests will be granted.

Lord, there are hundreds of believers who are in agreement praying for the healing of my brother.

Healing ( Isaiah 53:4-5 )

Isaiah 53:4-5

"Surely He hath borne our griefs (Hebrew: sicknesses) and carried our sorrows (Hebrew: pains) yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and by His stripes we are healed."

The last part of this verse,"by His stripes we are healed," is not talking about spiritual healing, as some have taught, but definite physical healing. God does not "heal" a human spirit, he recreates it. He does however, heal our bodies and minds. This clearly shows that your healing was paid for at the cross!

Lord, by your stripes my brother is healed.

Healing ( Matthew 6:9-10 )

Matthew 6:9-10

New International Version (NIV)

“This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

Jesus always prays the will of God, and He prays that the will of God be done here on the earth just as it is in heaven. People in heaven are not sick, so we can clearly see it is God's will that we also be free from sickness and disease.

Father, may your will be done, as you heal my brother.

Healing (Deuteronomy 7:15)

Deuteronomy 7:15

"And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known...

If this was a promise to God's covenant people under the Old Covenant, how much more does this benefit of health pertain to us today; as we are under the New Covenant which is based upon the precious Blood of Jesus Christ!

Lord, because of the blood you shed, my brother will be healed.

Healing (Romans 8:11)

Romans 8:11

New Living Translation (NLT)

11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Take a close look at this Scripture. This is talking about your body that you have now, not the one you're going to receive one day in heaven! Notice that the will of the Lord IS to impart His resurrection life into our natural, earthly body as we place our faith in His finished work of the cross. Begin to praise Him for this promise as you receive this as your very own.

Lord, heal my brother with your resurrection power.

Strength ( Isaiah 40:29-31 )

Isaiah 40:29-31

New Living Translation (NLT)

29 He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.
30 Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Even the strongest people get tired at times, but God's power and strength never diminish. He is never too tired or too busy to help and listen. His strength is our source of strength. When you feel all of life crushing you and cannot go another step, remember that you can call upon God to renew your strength.

Lord, I call upon you to strengthen my brother and his family during this time.

Healing ( Isaiah 41:10 )

Isaiah 41:10

New Living Translation (NLT)

10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

We need not be afraid or discouraged because 1.) God is with us {"I am with you"}, 2.) God has established a relationship with us {"I am your God"}, and 3.) God gives us assurance of His strength {"I will hold you up"}.

Lord, thank you for being with my brother during this time and holding him up through it.

Healing (Acts 3:1-10)

Acts 3:1-10

The Message (MSG)

1-5 One day at three o’clock in the afternoon, Peter and John were on their way into the Temple for prayer meeting. At the same time there was a man crippled from birth being carried up. Every day he was set down at the Temple gate, the one named Beautiful, to beg from those going into the Temple. When he saw Peter and John about to enter the Temple, he asked for a handout. Peter, with John at his side, looked him straight in the eye and said, “Look here.” He looked up, expecting to get something from them.
6-8 Peter said, “I don’t have a nickel to my name, but what I do have, I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!” He grabbed him by the right hand and pulled him up. In an instant his feet and ankles became firm. He jumped to his feet and walked.
8-10 The man went into the Temple with them, walking back and forth, dancing and praising God. Everybody there saw him walking around and praising God. They recognized him as the one who sat begging at the Temple’s Gate Beautiful and rubbed their eyes, astonished, scarcely believing what they were seeing.

The crippled man asked for money, but Peter gave him something much better - the use of his legs. We often ask God to solve a small problem, but He wants to give us a whole new life and help for all our problems. When we ask God for help, He may say, "I've got something even better for you." Ask God for what you want, but don't be surprised when He gives you what you really need.

In his excitement, the formerly crippled man began to jump and walk around. He also praised God! And then others were also awed by God's power. Don't forget to thank people who help you, but also remember to praise God for His care and protection.

Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray for your continued healing on my brother.

10 “Be still, and know that I am God!

I will be honored throughout the world.”

Let us be still now, reverently honoring God and His power and majesty. Take time each day to be still and to exalt God.

Healing (1 John 5:14-15)

1 John 5:14-15

New International Version (NIV)

14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

The emphasis here is on God's will, not our will. When we communicate with God, we don't demand what we want; rather we discuss with Him what He wants for us. If we align our prayers to His will, He will listen; and we can be certain that if He listens, He will give us a definite answer. START PRAYING WITH CONFIDENCE !

Lord, I am confident in your ability to heal my brother.

Healing ( Romans 5:3-4 )

Romans 5:3-4

New Living Translation (NLT)

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.

We rejoice in suffering not because we like pain or deny its tragedy, but because we know God is using life's difficulties and Satan's attacks to build our character. The problems that we run into will develop our perseverance - which in turn will strengthen our character , deepen our trust in God, and give us greater confidence about the future. You probably find your patience tested in some way every day. Thank God for those opportunities to grow, and deal with them in strength.

Lord, deepen our trust in you.

Healing (Matthew 14:14)

Matthew 14:14

New International Version (NIV)

14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Jesus performed some miracles as signs of His identity. He used other miracles to teach important truths. But here we read that He healed people because He "had compassion on them." Jesus was, and is, a loving, caring, and feeling person. When you are suffering, remember that Jesus hurts with you. He has compassion on you.

Lord, show your compassion on my brother.

Healing (Matthew 8:5-13)

Matthew 8:5-13

New International Version (NIV)

The Faith of the Centurion

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”
Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”
The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.
The centurion could have let many obstacles stand between him and Jesus - pride, doubt, money, language, distance, time, self-sufficiency, power, race. But he didn't. If he did not let these barriers block his approach to Jesus, we don't need to either. What keeps you from Christ?

Lord, continue healing my brother's body.

Joe
