Judges 8:22-23

²² Then the Israelites said to Gideon, “Be our ruler! You and your son and your grandson will be our rulers, for you have rescued us from Midian.”

²³ But Gideon replied, “I will not rule over you, nor will my son. The Lord will rule over you!




The people wanted to make Gideon their king, but Gideon stressed that the Lord was to rule over them. Gideon never lost sight of the importance for both a nation and an individual, of putting God first. Is God first in your life? If He is, He must affect every dimension of your life, not just what you do in church.
